Our story

From Palmato the world.

Six divisions, built one at a time, each because a client asked for it. Select a year to see how the group took shape.

A letter from our CEO

It all began in 1992,
in the port of Palma.

Lantimar was founded in 1992 by Toni Riera — a man with a sixth sense for business — as a small shipping agency working mainly with cruise ships and yachts. There were no large structures and no divisions. There was something far more important: knowledge of the port, a vocation for service, and a very personal way of understanding the relationship with a client.

Toni left us a way of working that is still part of our DNA today: be there 24/7, always answer, and solve it.

Yes, Sir.As Toni used to say

Because working in a port teaches you very quickly that behind every vessel there is a world almost nobody sees. And when something does not go to plan, someone has to be there to find a solution. That was our first lesson, and it is probably still the most important one.

In time something happened that would shape our history: our clients started asking us for more. They trusted us to handle their vessels, and they began trusting us to solve other needs too. That is how customs, logistics, international transport, air cargo, provisioning and yachting specialisation arrived. And when the cruise industry began to demand an increasingly complex and global operation, we developed Cruise Logistics.

This is how the Lantimar we know today came to be. Not by following a plan to accumulate divisions, but by doing something far simpler: listening to the client and evolving alongside them. Every new service was born from a real need. That is how we stopped being only a shipping agency and became an integrated group of maritime, logistics and customs services. And along the way, we became something else as well: a family.

Our roots are in Mallorca and deeply tied to the Balearics, but our clients kept taking us further. Palma led to Ibiza and Menorca. Then came Barcelona, Tarragona and Alicante, and today we continue developing our expansion towards the south of Spain. We have gone further, but we still think the way we did on the first day: every client matters and every operation counts.

If anything truly explains our evolution, it is not the offices we have opened or the divisions we have created. It is the people. From that first team of three in 1992 to the more than fifty professionals who make up Lantimar Group today, our history has been possible thanks to those who believed in this project and decided to make it their own.

People capable of answering a call when a problem appears, of looking for an alternative when there seemed to be none, and of understanding that in our industry “it cannot be done” very often means we have not found the solution yet. That culture is difficult to explain. But our clients know it well.

The last few years have been among the most intense in our history. Our challenge now is not simply to keep growing — it is to be ready to grow better. We are strengthening our structure, bringing in talent and investing in technology, digitalisation and security. We want to keep growing in the Mediterranean and to accompany our clients wherever they need us, but without losing what brought us here.

Because since 1992 the vessels have changed, the ports have changed, the technology has changed, and so have we. But our essence remains. We still believe in keeping our word, in long-term relationships, in picking up the phone, in anticipating, and in being there when we are needed.

More than three decades later, that small shipping agency born in the port of Palma has become a maritime and logistics group with an international vocation. But our story is not finished. The vessels allowed us to discover the world. Our clients made us evolve. Our team has brought us here. And the best of our story is still to be written.

Seguimos.
